Dr. Simon Martin Mvuyekure
Dr. Simon Martin Mvuyekure has served as the Senior Research Fellow and Coordinator of the Traditional Export Crops Research Programme at the Rwanda Agriculture and Animal Resources Development Board (RAB) for the last 7 years out of 17 years of working experience. He holds a PhD in plant breeding obtained from the University of KwaZulu Natal (South Africa) and an MSc in Bio-Engineering in Agricultural Sciences with a specialization in Plant Breeding and Crop Protection obtained from Universite Catholique de Louvain (Belgium). His research focuses on climate change mainstreaming in the coffee sector through varietal development programs, coffee pests and disease management as well as coffee system agronomy with regards to climate-smart agriculture. He contributed to the conception and coordination of outstanding coffee research projects aiming at the sustainability of the coffee sector in Rwanda.
